His Excellency Pankhaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation of the Sultanate of Oman accompanied by senior officials of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce of Oman paid an official visit to Sri Lanka. During the visit Mr. Khimji called on Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and held discussions with Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha Fernando. Mr. Khimji also met with the President and members of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.
Mr. Khimji who is also President of Oman Cricket met with the Interim Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Discussions focused on forthcoming negotiations on a mechanism to further expand bilateral trade and to strengthen co-operation in ports & shipping, fisheries and agriculture and initiate investment.
